Usually harmless, sometimes urgent. Same-week appointment.
Dry eye and blepharitis respond well to a structured plan.

Most eye conditions live in one of five places. Pick the part of the eye and see what I treat there.
01 · The cornea

02 · The lens
The natural lens sits just behind the pupil. With age it turns cloudy and yellow, dulling colours and scattering light at night. Replacing it with a clear artificial lens is one of the most successful operations in medicine.
03 · The retina

04 · The macula

Three short steps from first call to a clear plan.
1
Send the form or call Jamila. She finds a clinic and time that suit you, usually within one to two weeks.
2
A full examination and the tests you need on the day, then an honest conversation about your options.
3
A written plan with fees itemised. Surgery or treatment is booked only when you are ready.

A two-minute introduction to how I work
About
I qualified from Manchester Medical School with an intercalated degree in neuroscience, trained at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh, and worked as a consultant in Edinburgh before returning home to Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
My private practice concentrates on the two things I do most: cataract surgery and the medical treatment of retinal disease. Patients tell me they value being listened to and knowing exactly what happens next.

Usually 15 to 20 minutes per eye, as a day case under anaesthetic drops. You are at the hospital for around two to three hours in total.
Yes, but you will not see or feel the surgery. Anaesthetic drops numb the eye and light sedation is available if you would like it.
